KamerMatch — Tinder for Parliament

For many people, politics feels distant and hard to follow: dense parliamentary documents, jargon, and an endless stream of motions make it difficult to know where you stand — and which party best represents that. KamerMatch takes a different approach by turning real, current motions and statements from the Dutch House of Representatives into simple swipeable cards. Agree? Swipe right. Disagree? Swipe left. Based on your choices, the app calculates in real time how closely your voting behavior matches that of every party in parliament.

The challenge

The biggest challenge was making complex, formal parliamentary language accessible without losing its substance, and building a trustworthy match percentage based on real voting data from the Dutch parliament (open data). On top of that, the app needed to run smoothly on both iOS and Android, deliver a swipe experience as satisfying as well-known swipe apps, and store data locally so users can revisit their past votes even offline.

Our approach

We started by designing an architecture that cleanly separates data sources, local storage, and presentation, so the app stays fast and reliable regardless of network conditions. From there, we built the swipe interaction, match calculation, and live parliamentary agenda layer by layer, testing continuously against real open data from the Dutch parliament.

The result

A polished, working mobile app that gives users an approachable, playful way to explore their political preferences — including a personal match overview per party, a live parliamentary agenda, and a full swipe history, all while keeping data anonymous and stored locally.
