For car rental and leasing companies, we built a portal on top of an already automated fine-handling process. The task wasn't the automation itself, but making visible and manageable exactly the part where a user can, or needs to, make a change.
Processing and forwarding fines already ran automatically. The challenge was the interface: users didn't need a full view of every automatically processed data point, but a portal that shows only where manual intervention is needed or possible — for example, correcting a misassigned driver. Showing too much automated information creates noise; showing too little lets necessary corrections go unnoticed.
We started by mapping the existing, automated fine-handling process to determine which data was purely informational and which needed to be actionable for the user:
A portal that gives users control exactly where it's needed, without duplicating or disrupting the fully automated process. This reduces noise, prevents unnecessary manual intervention, and keeps corrections traceable.
